Lycée L. S. Senghor Évreux High School
WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT YOU WITH
OUR LATEST WORK: This collection of war-accounts, soon to be translated into English
3 DAYS ON THE TRACKS OF HISTORY
& MEMORIES
WITH A GERMAN SCHOOL GROUP
Our group went to the CWGC cemetery in Bayeux. The pupils were introduced to the issues of memory: how to pay our respect today? What were the policies put in place after WW1? What differences between countries when it comes to remembrance?
On June 3, we had the privilege to meet Roy, James and Cyril Banks. They all in turn gave some of their feelings about what it was to fight 70 years ago...
The pupils were hooked, just like the teachers! James Kunkle explains how it was to fly his P-47 Lightning over Normandy in 1944.
We also had the opportunity to present the collection of accounts to them.
We just hope they are proud of the job we did just as we feel honored to having been able to do it.
On June 4, we were invited by Comité Juno to participate in a ceremony in honour of the Canadians who fought in Normandy. 40 veterans were there and each of the pupils in our group was able to give a letter to each one of the veterans.
There was also time for a little chat.
These are just amazing moments for all involved.

On June 5, we were invited by the Ligue de l'Enseignement to come to the Forum organised in Caen for the second year: NORMANDY FOR PEACE
Pupils were able to present their book and the project (Manon, Léa and Élise here.
Then, we were able to sit on conferences dealing with issues of war & peace in today's world.
For instance, a conference about issues of peace in Europe.
