An educational project at
Lycée L. S. Senghor Évreux High School
SHARING...
ONCE AGAIN
6 June 2022
3 weeks after ceremonies in Mauthausen (Austria), the 20 students from Évreux and Darmstadt take part in the D-Day ceremonies
Our Franco-German group had the privilege to be invited to 3 D-Day ceremonies: at Hill 112, Juno Centre and for the international ceremonies in Bernières.
Clockwise, students present the school project to Amy Baker, chargée d'affaire to the Canadian Embassy in France, the group prepares to sin "Le chant des marais / Die Moorsoldaten" in Bernières, then the students exchange with British veterans.
Left, Alban and Yohann were interviewed after the ceremony.
Below, 9 students read texts at the ceremony on Hill 112
We are so grateful to our partners that made that fantastic outing possible: Deep Respect, OFAJ, Odon-Cote 112, Juno Centre and the Comité du Débarquement.
And of course, BRAVO to Darja, Mara, Maria, Marlene, Clara, Romy, Charlotte, Benedikt, Clemens and Maxim from Darmstadt and to Manon, Tess, Lorena, Viviane, Lilly, Yohann, Alban, Yéhan, Gabriel et Killian
5 years after students helped Albert Figg translate his memoirs, the documentary he wished to see on screen comes to life.
Visit the Hill 112 website:
"A Canterbury Tale, Albert Figg and the Battle for Hill 112
will be screened for the first time in the Great Hall at Kent College, on Tuesday 12 April, 2022 in the presence of The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Pat Todd, and The Lady Mayoress, Dr Elizabeth McGown".
A group of a dozen students had volunteered to translate his book 5 years ago; 2 years ago another group of students helped translate the subtitles into French.
A great project most kindly proposed by Annette, Albert's daughter.
