A child in wartime near London: the account of

Elizabeth O'Donohoe

December 2020

London-Évreux (Normandy)

Elizabeth O'Donohoe was extremely kind to agree to share her childhood memories, those of a time when her parents and brothers and sisters were trying to maintain forms of a normal life for her, as a child.

40 students from our school "met" with Elizabeth online.

A dozen had sent questions ahead of the interviews and Mrs O'Donohoe made some research so as to place her account in a broader context. Doing this certainly allowed the students to grasp some of the realities of the time better.

We all know now how uneasy it may be to have a discussion online: thank you to Mrs O'Donohoe for her patience and for accepting this ordeal!
It was a fine way to end 2020!
Well done to the students who helped build the talk with their questions and for turning up
